2020 '60th Anniversary Year'


Saturday 30th May : COVID-19

 AGB have stated that archery can be re introduced under government guidelines of Social Distancing, unfortunately we will be able to re start shooting but it will be restricted shooting, now that Knebworth Estates has partially reopened, with shorter hours and due to the restrictions given to us by AGB, Government and the estate, shooting will be on a first come online booking service, the guidelines that will be sent out to you will explain all this to you, please do not come to the park to shoot without prior booking and receipt of an E-Ticket.  (see members area for booking)




This event calendar can change regularly due to new guidance received by AGB and Knebworth est.

HAA Postal League July to September

This is an amendment, due to the HAA league organiser moving the goalposts, for your information we we not consulted over the changes, HAA are now running a individual based postal league (no entry fee required) for those that have returned to Covid-19 lockdown restricted shooting. They are hoping to run this for July, August and September, depending on number of entries they may use the 2 best months scores from each archer out of the 3 month period. This will be based on the WA50 round (80cm face, adults 72 arrows at 50m) for adults. juniors is set at 20m, with different face sizes depending on your age group, please see below.

May I ask that if any junior scores are submitted you please add or subtract from your score, using the guide below, place this final score under the actual score. I will then submit your best score for the month on your behalf.

When sending your score sheet it should only be signed by you (the archer) a cross scorer signature is not required due to covid 19.

Rules (all metric scoring) Seniors WA50,  Juniors: U18 boys – WA50 (as per seniors), Others at 20m metric scoring but different face size based on age and gender.

U18 girls & u16 boys   40cm face, U16 girls & u14 boys   60cm face, U14 girls & u12 boys   80cm face, U12 girls  120cm face 

Seniors medals for each Gender of each bow type Gold, Silver & Bronze. Info required Gender, Score, Bow type

Juniors medals will be for each Gender at each age group. Gold, Silver & Bronze

Score adjusted as follows:

 Any scores over 500 do not qualify for any adjustments.

Recurve - as scored, Longbow plus 38%, (Only applies if less than 500 scored), Barebow plus 21%, (Only applies if less than 500 scored), Compound minus 18% (Only applies if over 500 scored)

Please be reminded that you MUST carry your Green Dragon membership card and display it on your quiver and display your car badge at all times when you visit the shooting field. Knebworth Estates staff will now check these regularly. Also remember that access for archery members is limited to the huts, the shooting field, and the toilets. We do not have open access to the park itself.

Green Dragon Bowmen is a member of ontarget, Archery GB’s Club Development Programme. Clubs joining ontarget are making a public pledge to be open and friendly, to advance archery and to proactively work with Archery GB and in return clubs will be recognised, rewarded and given support, guidance and advice to develop and improve.
